FAQs
Can I disinfect Smile Lite and Smile Capture between patients?
Yes. Dental disinfectant wipes can be used to clean both products. Please do not autoclave or submerge either product in water as this will irreversibly damage them.
Is the Smile Lite or a smartphone included with Smile Capture ?
No, the Smile Lite and smart phone must be purchased separately.
Can I use Smile Capture without the calibration box?
We recommend using the calibration box with Smile Capture, and that is why it is included in every order. The calibration box is an essential part of the concept - if you decide not to use it you’ll get random results far from the possibilities offered by Smile Capture.
I downloaded the App from the App Store, but it isn't working
Please delete the App from your iPhone and download it again. When the iPhone is asking you to authorize access to the photo album, click yes.
Do I need to recalibrate after each photo?
No, it is not necessary to recalibrate after each photo. A new calibration is required when you quit the application (or if using the polarising filter).
I can't find the image I just took in the patient’s album
Make sure that you have entered the name of the patient (new or existing) before the calibration process. If that was not done, the image will be in the main photo album.
My images are very dark when using the polarizing filter
You probably forgot to recalibrate Smile Capture. The filter is actually absorbing part of the light, so a new calibration is required. We recommend you use the same calibration card as you did for your pictures without the filter.
My pictures are blurry
During the calibration process, the autofocus is disabled. A blurry picture is a sign that you were not the correct distance away from the patient when you took the photo. The distance between camera-patient must be the same distance as the one between camera-target during the calibration process. A few tricks :
- At the beginning, it might be helpful to slightly zoom in (pinch on the Smartphone screen) for a better appreciation of the sharpness on the screen
- The patient’s head should be supported and not moving
- The user must resist from moving back and forth during the photo session
My pictures are over-exposed
The choice of the calibration card determines the value (brightness) of each picture. If the picture is over exposed, the user should use the High Value card.
My pictures are under-exposed
If the picture is over exposed, the user should use the Low Value card.
